Coverage of the annual induction ceremony for the Brockville and Area Music and Performers Hall of Fame
Each year the Hall of Fame recognizes those who have made significant contributions in the areas of music and performance whether it be in the limelight or behind the scenes. This year's ceremon was held March 25, 2010 at the Brockville Arts Centre. Originally presented live on TVCOGECO, the ceremony was also recorded for repeat showings.
The honour roll for 2010 consists of:
Dave Muir - designed and built sets for most major productions at the Brockville Arts Centre for more than half a century until his retirement in 2001
Lance Besharah - conductor of the Brockville Concert Band since the mid 1990's and music teacher at Thousand Islands Secondary School
Walter Hoffman - established the music program at South Grenville District High School in 1953 and contributed to the ongoing development of the program until his retirement in 1984. He was also instrumental in t he establishment of the Fort Town Concert Association
Roger Tripp - recognized for a wide variety of contributions to music and the arts over a period of more than three decades. The late Mr. Tripp taught and promoted music in the schools and was a gifted director and actor in numerous stage productions
Barry Whiteland - an accomplished director, producer, actor, and make up artist for many Brockville Theatre and Operatic Society productions since the 1970's.
Brockville Pipe Band - the Highland Pipe Band has been representing Brockville and area in parades, concerts, tattoos and highland games throughout Ontario and New York state since it was formed in 1931.
The Brockville and Area music and performing arts hall of fame recognizes those who have made significant contributions to music and/or the performing arts in the geographic area from Cardinal in the east to Mallorytown in the west and north to Athens and Toledo.
