Cobourg Council recognizes a world champion and a provincial champion, hear about Fair Wage Policy, get an update on Culture Day in Cobourg that will occur on October 1st, pass a motion rewarding a contract for the development of the town's communication plan, as well as get an update on the activities of the Mayor and Councillors.

Cobourg council hears about the latest upgrades at the Northumberland Art Gallery, the towns upcoming 175th Anniversary, increase parking and fines at Victoria Beach, pass motions on the CCC Business Plan and announce they are negotiating with the West Northumberland Curling Club on renovating the Jack Heenan rink into a curling facility.

As this meeting of council, Via Rail announced that a tunnel at the current station to trasfer passengers to the new tracks is not viable. Council put the heritage window question back in the hands of the heritage committee. Lara Scott announced the official opening of the Cobourg Community Centre will be April 16th.

At the February 14th meeting, council passes a by-law to regulate noise in the town. Cobourg Mayor Gil Brocanier announces a new company is setting up shop in Cobourg.

At Cobourg Council on Monday January 31st, council heard a delegation from Cobourg Architectural Conservancy of Ontario regarding the proposed development at the Cobourg Via station, they re-instated the parking advisory committee, Deputy - Mayor Stan Frost informed council the plans for the budget, and Mayor Gil Brocanier gave his fellow members a county budget update.

Cobourg council hears a presentation from Malcolm Wardman. He gives them an update on the upcoming Heritage Conference being held in Cobourg from June 3-5. They also listen to a presentation from the Bicycle Action Committee who are looking for various projects to be covered in this years budget. Cobourg Deputy-Mayor and budget chief Stan Frost gives an update on the budget for the town.

The highlightes of the meeting were the Town of Cobourg and the Fullerton family reaching an agreement for the town to purchase property along the West Beach to complete the boardwalk. The council passed a motion in support of increased funding for the NHH, as well as several presentations ranging from Northumberland County talking about there budget, Crimestoppers, and the Northumberland Arts Council.

Cobourg council hears a delegation from Ben Burd and Patty Park representing the Northumberland Hills Citizens Health Coalition. They defer making a decision on the farmers market request to close down Second St. during the times the market is open until they receive a staff report. As well as defer taking a stance on the Hospital cuts until they have a meeting with CEO Robert Biron, which is to take place on Wednesday April 14th.
