Port Hope council hears from two delegations on the King/Armour/Shaw St. reconstruction, and pass a motion on there preferred Option. Council gives the Centre Pier Task Force an extension until October 25th for their final report to be brought to council for their approval.

Port Hope council passes the operating and capital budget for 2011, announce an agreement for the operation of a drive test centre in town hall, announce that Carl Cannon has been hired back on as the Municipalities CAO, Councillor David Turck makes a comment on the Toronto Star article in Saturday's paper about the town and give a round of applause to the organizers of the 30th Annual Float your Fanny Down the Ganny.

At this meeting of council, Karen Sharpe the Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture presents her report on the Eastside Ganaraska Parkland Process. Council also hears from Bill Hubbs, former Chair of the Civic Awards Committee, as to why he resigned from the Committee and why they should not implement the changes they are thinking about.

Some of the highlights coming out of council were Peter and Jane Rumgay being awarded the 2011 Heritage Achievement Award for the Municipality. Mayor Thompson explaining Council 101 publication. As well as giving fellow council members a county update and answering questions they have about the budget.

Port Hope council sit down and discuss issues of the day. Port Hope councillor David Turck sends out a special thank you to the fire fighters that responded quickly to a recent fire in the downtown core and suggests holding a symposium for the youth of the community. The purpose of the symposium would be for the Municipality to answer any questions they may have about the clean up.

Port Hope Council recognizes the plaque of HMCS Port Hope that they received as part of the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy. The watched a video on Bridge Hospice, as well as passing motions on specialized transit hours and rural service, tree improvements in the downtown core and installation of exhaust retrofit devices.

Port Hope council gets an update from the Port Hope Area Initiative on how the plans for the Low Level Clean up are progressing. Councillor David Turck questions when Northumberland Hills Hospital will be making an appearance before council seeing that have been making other stop in the county. And a reseident questions as to when the harbour will be re-opened and dredged so boats can make arrive safely into the harbour.

Port Hope council spends most of the meeting discussing the application for license to produce medical marijuana by Jacob Tapiero. Also talked about is the library finding a business to sponsor the tutor program, the success of the Float Your Fanny down the Ganny and the $75,000 grant for the skate park.

The Municipality of Port Hope announces the new Peer Review Project Manager for the Port Hope Area Initiative. Anothony Hobbs replaces Mark Stevenson who held the position for 7 years. Also Deputy Mayor Jeff Lees questions the hiring of 5 new employees by Northumberland County and the duplication of service occuring between the county and the Municipality.

Port Hope council reccomends that Eugene Todd be hired as the municipality of Port Hope new CAO. Mr. Todd has been the acting CAO since the departure of Carl Cannon in November.
