What is TVCOGECO?
TVCOGECO is unique - in the way it focuses on the local level and how it can directly involve the community in the creation of television programs. Because of this special partnership, TVCOGECO's Community Channel can reflect the events and interests that are relevant to the people in the communities we serve.
On TVCOGECO, you can watch everything from local sports and politics to current events and the latest "celebrations." Other programs range from health care and educational issues to development concerns, youth interests and local heroes. It's about who we are and what makes our community so special.
How do I post an announcement for my community group/organization?
How do I get my event covered?
Thanks to TVCOGECO's ever-increasing support and popularity, the demand for coverage of local events is very high. There are several questions we ask ourselves to determine the priorities for event or subject coverage. Here are a few:
Does the request fit within our mandate and regulations?
How much does this affect or interest our community?
Is it relevant to our local focus?
Have we provided similar coverage recently, and is it time to give another group or topic a turn?
What makes this event or topic unique or special?
Can we provide appropriate coverage with the available resources?
Do we have sufficient preparation time?
How much help can you provide with the production (e.g., crew support)?
After discussing these points we are better able to determine how we can help you.
But, before we even begin our decision process, we require a written request containing the details of the specific event wishing to be covered. Write us a letter and then send it in via Canada Post, fax, e-mail or through our web site. For more information, please see the Contact Us section of your system.
I understand that TVCOGECO uses volunteers in their TV productions. How does one become a volunteer?
TVCOGECO produces its television programs with the help of trained volunteers. You can become one of those volunteers. Our production facilities, training and free access are provided by TVCOGECO. In fact, most of our production crews and on-air hosts are community volunteers who learned their skills at our studio workshops, and many of the program ideas were suggested by local residents. Go to the Volunteers page of your local system for additional information about volunteers.
How do I upload photos and videos?
You need to login as a member and go the video/pics gallery and find an album in the album browser you wish to submit to and go to the 'add video" or 'add photo' link below the image. Or, you can also create a new album in the appropriate category in the album browser.
Your photos will be displayed in a horizontal 4x6 photo window (640 x 390 pixels). So, depending on your photo's composition you may or may not see some cutoff on top and bottom. You can use a cropping tool in your photo software or image viewer to resize your photo to that 4x6 ratio format, if it's required.
Click the Add video or Add photo button to find your images and select your files, observing the file size and/or image size limits.
After the thumbail of your photo or video appears as shown below...

Then you can click the blue 'upload photos' or 'upload videos' button to send your files forward for processing.
Wait until you receive a successful upload message before you change or switch webpages.
Your images should appear on the website within a day.
Why should I become a member of TVCOGECO?
When you become a member of TVCOGECO, you will be able to post Public Service Announcements, and submit your videos and photos about the community.
How does TVCOGECO determine what program is on at what time?
We schedule some programs to repeat at different times. This allows more viewers to watch at a time that's most convenient to them and creates wider exposure for the program.
