Racing. For many, it’s about speed. For others, it’s about the competition. Some see it as the ultimate coordination between man and machine. But whatever the motivation, car racing continues to fascinate our culture, as it has since the invention of the first vehicle. For Nathan Blok, who is from just outside the small Ottawa Valley city of Pembroke, racing is his life.
In 2011, 17-year old, Nathan Blok is competing in the Formula Tour 1600 Championship. This series, which is based out of Quebec, is composed of 12 races set over 5 tracks. Some of the greatest drivers in the world got their start in this Formula Ford class of motorsport. Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher all made their marks in wingless, open wheel cars, like these.
