Chamber Awards Night

The Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 50th Anniversary this year and TVCOGECO was proud to be part of it. Their annual Awards Gala night was another huge success for everyone involved.

  TVCOGECO was honoured to be the recipient of the Chamber’s School-To-Work Transition Award, thanks to the opportunities given to Co-op and High School Students over the years through its Volunteer Program. In addition, TVCOGECO has produced several videos promoting Passport To Prosperity, Job Connect and the annual Options Skilled Trade Showcase.

Medicine Man Takes House Calls

Medicine Man is a program that is about options.  Volunteer host John Songolo uses his expertise as a local pharmacist to inform viewers about various illnesses and related afflictions all the while receiving questions and an “every man’s” perspective from volunteer co-host Audrey Green. 

The program follows and live call-in format on live Wednesday airings and viewers are encouraged to call in with their questions and comments on the evening’s topic.  John has covered all variety of issues throughout his two seasons on TVCOGECO.  From High Blood Pressure to Stroke, from Hair Loss to Erectile Dysfunction, John is not afraid to tackle any topic.  His informative answers and topical narrative serves to enlighten viewers on the options present to those feeling the affects of many of the health problems facing Canadians today.  He brings us up to date on the illnesses and afflictions themselves, speaking in a language that all viewers can understand.  John then goes into the symptoms and treatment options available to individuals today.

TVCOGECO’s volunteer crew helps to put on the show every week as we tape both a live and a taped episode on Wednesday evenings.  Cameraman, Doug Holmes brings his over 15 years of experience to the show becoming the eyes for our viewers.  Graphics operator, Ashley Angel, helps ensure that all graphics, name keys and phone numbers for live tapings get on the air.  Director and audio operator Gerry Blandford, provides to the show his focus and passion for volunteering.  Without the tireless efforts of these heroes of production shows like Medicine Man could not be brought to our many subscribers.  Great job team.
